The UTEP women's golf team put together another solid round on Monday and continues to head up the 10-team field at the Conference USA Championships in Gulf Shores, Ala.
The Miners shot 302 for the second straight day, giving them a two-day total of 604. UTEP was tied with SMU for first place after Sunday's opening round. But the Mustangs slipped into a tie for third place (302-306-608) with hard-charging Memphis (312-296-608) on Monday.
Tulane, the no. 13 team in the country, is in second place (303-304-607). Six teams are in contention for the title, with UCF (304-305-609) and Tulsa (309-301-610) in fifth and sixth place respectively.
UTEP and Tulane are the only teams with three players in the top-10 of the individual standings. The Miners' Teresa Nogues is tied for second place with a two-over-par 146 (71-75-146), three strokes behind individual leader Marita Engzelius of Tulsa (72-71-143).
