LAS CRUCES, NM -- Four men from Las Cruces are accused of assaulting and robbing a 75-year-old woman at Young Park.
According to Las Cruces police, the woman was walking in the park around 4:30 Wednesday afternoon when she was approached by the four men. The woman told police the suspects asked her for money and a ride but when she refused, one of the men got her from behind and put her in a choke hold.
The woman told police she lost consciousness and fell to the ground. When she awoke police say she noticed her Mini Cooper was missing from the parking lot. The woman went to a nearby store where a passerby helped her call 911.
A Las Cruces police officer saw the woman’s car on Picacho Avenue. When officers approached the car, police say the driver slowed down then ran from the officer. The three other men were eventually arrested.
Las Cruces police charged Daniel Julian Crespin and Aaron J. Orosco, both 21, Andres Vigil, 19, and Ivan Castillo, 17, with one count each of robbery and unlawful taking of a motor vehicle.
