The UTEP soccer team will play host to I-10 rival New Mexico State in a spring exhibition contest at 7 p.m. MDT at University Field Wednesday. There will be free admission to the match.
The Miners have enjoyed a solid spring exhibition season to date, having posted victories against both Arizona State and Texas Tech. The match-up against the Aggies will be the second to last exhibition contest of the spring. UTEP is also tabbed to take on the Alberta Provincial squad on April 30.
Fans will be able to get an early glance at the 2011 squad, which has a solid regular-season schedule on the docket. UTEP will officially renew the battle of I-10 in the season and home opener against NM State (Aug. 19), hold the second-annual Border Bash (Aug. 26 & 28), the 12th-annual Border Shootout (Sept. 9 & 11) while also playing seven of its Conference USA contests at University Field.
Overall The Miners will face a trio of 2011 NCAA Championship participants throughout the 2011 campaign. UTEP will be in search of its 10th straight winning season, all of which have featured 10+ triumphs.
