A new study is suggesting that maybe too much of a good thing really is a bad thing— and that good thing is alcohol.
The research found several correlations between alcohol consumption and cancer risk. British researchers studied nearly 400,000 people in multiple countries. Data found daily drinks increased the overall cancer risk in regular drinkers.
Researchers found that nearly half of cancers of the mouth, throat and esophagus in men might be linked to alcohol. The link was smaller in women.
There may be benefits from drinking some alcohol— moderate drinking has been shown to lower the risk of heart disease.
