TEXAS - With wildfires ravaging Fort Davis, about 200 miles away from El Paso, the American Red Cross is sending aid to help families displaced by the fires.
About 30 homes are destroyed right now and 300 people have been evacuated. Many people are seeking shelter at a nearby high school. The Red cross is providing food, bedding, and clothes, and also care to first responders on the scene.
This is not the only fire ripping through Texas; one fire in Midland destroyed as many as 40 homes and displaced 500 people. In Texas, the Red Cross says 300,000 acres have burned.
"Life changes so quickly and devastating losses like this are heart-breaking," said Mark Matthys, Executive Director for American Red Cross El Paso, in a statement. "Our mission is to turn that heart-break into hope. These are our neighbors, and they need our help to restore their homes and communities."
