EL PASO— Two people were arrested after they were caught breaking into a home early Monday morning.
El Paso police said Juan Alatorre, 30, of the 5200 block of Wren, and Emmanuel Zuniga-Nunez, 30, of the 100 block of Pendale, were accomplices when they broke into a home in the 400 block of Chesak a little after 10:00 a.m. on Monday.
EPPD officers responding to a burglary in progress call said they saw Zuniga-Nunez driving a get-away car as Alatorre was breaking into the home. Zuniga-Nunez drove off in the vehicle and was stopped a short distance away by police. Alatorre was confronted by police and then ran off. Police said Alatorre “secured a fighting stance” against an officer and was taken into custody at Delta and Edna after a brief struggle.
Police said Alatorre had numerous amounts of jewelry in his possession at the time of his arrest. He was booked for burglary of habitation and resisting arrest with his bonds set at $46,000. Zuniga-Nunez was booked for burglary of habitation on bonds set at $40,000.
