EL PASO - This has to be a tough day for the 116 EPISD employees who've lost their jobs. The school board last night voted to cut those positions including at-risk coordinators and office jobs.
The district says it won't be handing out pink slips but instead will try to help those 116 people find other vacated jobs within the district.
The president of the El Paso Federation of Teachers, Lucy Clarke, says many more positions will be cut, and that will place some schools at risk of closing, including Zavala and Schuster elementary schools..
"It is very depressing, it's very hard, because its our future that's being affected," Clarke said.
