EL PASO – Police arrested a man in Central El Paso on drug charges after he crashed his bicycle while allegedly trying to ride away from officers.
Investigators said 55-year-old Ramon Lerma was riding his bicycle in the 3100 block of Raynor early Sunday morning.
When an officer tried to stop Lerma for not having the proper lights on the bicycle, he allegedly took off.
Lerma flipped off the bike and flew head first into the pavement when police said he tried to take off a backpack full of drugs.
The bag got stuck in the front tire.
Police said they found cocaine and marijuana inside.
Lerma was booked into the El Paso County Jail after being treated for his injuries.
