EL PASO - In just a few hours Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano will speak with the media at the Bridge of the Americas to discuss border security, according to a Department of Homeland Security news release.
The trip will "highlight the Department of Homeland Security’s unprecedented efforts to strengthen border security while facilitating trade and travel along the Southwest border," reads the release.
Last month, President Obama finally loosened travel restrictions for Mexican commercial trucks under the North American Free Trade Agreement.
Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade, Francisco Sanchez, U.S. Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Alan Bersin and El Paso Mayor John Cook will join Napolitano at the conference, set to start at 1 p.m. local time.
