EL PASO-- Police have identified the drivers involved in Tuesday's deadly accident on U.S. 54 and Fred Wilson.
El Paso police said 62-year-old Hubbard Dorsey was speeding when he lost control of his pickup truck and slid across several lanes before hitting the guard rail.
Investigators said because of that accident, 49-year-old Donald Eimer was forced to veer to the right and into traffic. Police said Eimer was also speeding.
Officers said Dorsey's truck continued over the guardrail, rolled over, and hit a cement wall to the on-ramp of Spur 601. It is believed Dorsey was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the truck. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Eimer was arrested for DWI and booked into the El Paso County Jail.
STI investigators have identified speed and failure to wear a seat belt as factors in this collision.
It is unknown if alcohol was a contributor to Dorsey's death at this point in the investigation. That determination is pending toxicology results.
This is the 17th traffic death of 2011 compared to 13 this time last year.
