EL PASO— The match between two college football teams at the Sun Bowl late last year generated some big bucks for the Sun City.
The 77th annual Hyundai Sun Bowl between the University of Miami and the University of Notre Dame generated $24.6 million in total economic impact during last year's game.
According the a survey conducted by Texas Perspectives, Inc., the Sun City, El Paso county, and Sun Metro generated nearly $400,000 in tax revenue. The revenues generated from the Hyundai Sun Bowl also created nearly 400 new jobs in the community.
The 2010 game had a record attendance of 54,021, 16,000 of which were out-of-town visitors.
