LAS CRUCES— A Las Cruces man has been arrested after he physically assaulted his girlfriend early Saturday morning.
Jose Jordan, 23, was arrested after Las Cruces Police were called to the Jordan's apartment at 1620 Glady's Dr. around 3:00 a.m. Officers found Jordan's 21-year-old girlfriend with visible bruising and bite marks.
Police said the couple was arguing after returning from an area nightclub. The argument became physical, and Jordan kicked his girlfriend several times before holding her down with both hands around the woman's throat. During the fight, Jordan hit the woman and hit her with a toilet seat lid.
The woman's injuries are not life-threatening.
Jordan was taken to an area hospital for wounds he received when he cut himself while breaking at least two windows during the argument.
Jordan was charged with four felony counts of aggravated battery against a household member, and one count each of false imprisonment, battery against a household member, assault, and criminal damage to property. Jordan was booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center with his bond set at $48,000.
