Neighbors say it was a quiet Monday night before shots rang out on Melody Lane in the Upper Valley.
"My son heard a bang, but we never thought of it," said an unidentified neighbor.
He says it was not until a few minutes later that he learned his 13-year old neighbor had been shot while in his home.
"All we could see was the little kid when he was in the ambulance when they picked him up," the neighbor says.
After the shooting, neighbors say the suspects drove off in a silver Ford Mustang, slammed into a fence, left the car behind and took off on foot.
Officers swarmed the neighborhood, K-9 units combed nearby streets and a helicopter circled overhead, but by that time, the suspects were long gone.
Residents say the shooting shook up their close knit neighborhood.
"Everybody knows everybody. This is the first time this has happened," one man says.
And they hope it's the last.
