EL PASO - An early morning apartment fire in East El Paso forced nine people out of their homes.
It happened at a two-story apartment complex in the 4500 block of Sunrise. We're told 50 firefighters quickly contained the fire and put it out.
No one was hurt, but the fire caused about $50,000 in damage.
A neighbor says the couple who lived in the apartment, where the fire started, had been arguing before the fire broke out.
"Since like one, two in the morning and they were fighting and like two hours later the guy just set the apartment on fire because he was trying to kill her," Daisy Miranda said.
Police have not confirmed Miranda's story, but a spokesman for the El Paso Fire Department says they are trying to find out if the fire was intentionally set.
