EL PASO - The Department of Public Health said flu season is not over; in fact, we're in the thick of it right now.
The Department of Health is asking people to get vaccinated if they haven't already. They say now is typically the peaks season for the influenza virus in El Paso.
"Many in our community may have the misconception that the flu season is over or that it is too late for the vaccine to have any real benefits," said Michael Hill, Health Director, in a statement. "The truth is that flu season can extend into May and the vaccine only takes about a week to start providing protection, most people will have full protection in about two weeks," he said.
