SOCORRO - A bridge in Socorro may get new legs after its support system undergoes a makeover.
The bridge on Vineyard Street, which sits over an irrigation canal, has been closed for weeks after engineers confirmed that some of the structure supports were eroding. Socorro Planning and Zoning have been making repairs and will shut off water to the canal February 28. Repairs should be completed by March 3, at which point they will refill that part of the canal.
Vehicles will be allowed back on the bridge once water is flowing and the bridge is deemed safe.
