HOUSTON— Rare footage of President John F. Kennedy speaking in Houston the night before his assassination in Dallas has been released.
The color footage shows JFK speaking on Nov. 21, 1963. The President is shown in front of a group of hundreds of people from the League of Latin American Citizens, or LULAC. The then-President introduces First lady Jacqueline Kennedy. The First Lady spoke in front of the crowd without notes in Spanish, prompting the crowd to erupt into cheers of “OLE.”
The film was donated to a Dallas organization, called the Sixth Floor Museum, which focuses on the life and death of JFK. The organization restored and released the film.
The footage was filmed by Roy Botello, a LULAC official, at the event at the Rice Hotel.
