Almost 800,000 baby car seats, made by Dorel Juvenile Group (DJG) are being recalled.
The recall was prompted by safety harness problems, and includes booster, convertible and infant seats.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is concerned the harness' locking and release button does not always return to its locked position; that can result in a loose harness, which can increase the risk of injuries in the event of a car crash.
DJG said the problem involves certain restraint systems, that were made from May 1, 2008, through April 30, 2009, and include a center front adjuster for the harness.
