EL PASO - Fourth grade students at Park Elementary put on their hard hats to help build a new library in their classroom.
They were one of 18 EPISD campuses awarded a classroom impact grant.
Students from the winning classrooms decided what they wanted to do with the money. Miss Johnson's fourth grade class chose a new classroom library.
"We're going to be rebuilding a new library with the children in mind," said fourth grade teacher Renee Johnson. "The children will actually be drawing the library floor plan. They'll actually give the library a name. We're going to have nice cushions for them to sit on. And with this grant, we're going to be ordering books."
EPISD awarded more than $21,000 in classroom impact grants this school year. Park Elementary's new library is expected to be completed in March.
