EL PASO - The police should have released the mug shot of former officer Alberto Madrid all along - that's the latest from the state Attorney General.
You may remember Alberto Madrid was forced to resign after witnesses at a wedding say he stole a money box and ran someone over as he tried to get away. He's now charged with aggravated robbery for the incident that occurred while he was working off-duty security at the wedding.
Police said they couldn't release his picture immediately upon arrest - even though that's typical procedure for most offenders - because it would endanger his safety.
But now the Attorney General disagrees.
The opinion says the department "failed to demonstrate that release of the photograph would endanger the officer's life or physical safety" and that it cannot be withheld.
