UPDATED @3:51 p.m.-- El Paso Police Department Special Traffic Investigators have new information on the accident early Tuesday morning.
According to police, the driver of the 2005 Honda Accord, 61-year-old Maria Gomez of the 12000 block of Russolo, ran a red light around 7:58 a.m. at Vista Del Sol and struck an SISD school bus being driven by 54-year old Abel Hernandez of Socorro, Texas. There were no students or other passengers in the school bus.
Jennifer Gomez, 17, also of the 12000 block of Russolo, was a front seat passenger in the Accord. The car hit the middle of the bus, causing it to fall onto its side. Maria Gomez died at the scene. Jennifer Gomez was taken to Del Sol where she later died.
Hernandez was taken to Del Sol Medical Center for treatment.
Maria and Jennifer Gomez are the 3rd and 4th traffic fatalities of 2011, respectively, compared to two at the same time in 2010.
Hernandez was transported to Del Sol Medical Center for treatment. Maria Gomez is the 3rd traffic fatality of 2011 and Jennifer Gomez is the 4th traffic fatality of 2011. Hernandez was the sole occupant of the School Bus.

UPDATED @ 2:31 p.m. NewsChannel 9 has confirmed through students at Montwood High School that one of the two women killed in a serious crash in far east El Paso was Montwood Junior Jennifer Gomez.
Sources also tell us that her aunt was traveling with her at the time.

UPDATED @ 10:19 a.m. -- Two women are dead after the car they were in crashed into a school bus in far East El Paso.
The crash happened around 8:00 a.m. at the intersection of Bob Hope and Vista Del Sol.
Police say the driver of a Honda Accord blew through a red light and slammed into the side of the school bus, flipping it over.
Police say the woman driving the Honda died at the scene. Another woman in the passenger seat of the Honda died at the hospital.
The school bus driver, a 51-year-old man, was in the hospital with serious injuries.
The school bus had just dropped off students at Clarke Middle School, located just down the street from the crash site on Bob Hope.
There were no students on board the bus when the accident happened. Bob Hope and Vista del Sol are still closed while police investigate.

9:30 a.m. Update: NewsChannel 9 just learned the passenger in the Honda died at the hospital. The bus driver is said to be in serious condition.
8:30 a.m. Update: Crews on the scene told NewsChannel 9 the driver of the small Honda car that collided with the bus is dead.
We've also learned the school bus had just dropped off students at Clark Middle School before being involved in the accident.
The driver of the bus was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
A passenger in the Honda was also taken to the hospital.
EL PASO – Police are on the scene of a serious crash in far east El Paso involving a school bus and a small vehicle.
The school bus is flipped over onto its side at the intersection of Bob Hope and Vista Del Sol.
Police say the roof is ripped off of the other vehicle. Injuries are reported, but it's not clear if any of the injured are children.
The crash is near Vista Del Sol Elementary School and Clarke Middle School.
