WASHINGTON D.C. - The president and first lady led the nation in observing a moment of silence to honor victims of the mass shooting in Tucson, AZ.
Under overcast skies, the president appeared on the south lawn of the white house just before 9 a.m.
The president and first lady stood with members of the white house staff in the cold morning air.
The moment was marked at the U.S. Capitol as well.
Lawmakers, staff and visitors marked the moment of silence on the east front steps of the U.S. Capitol Building.
