EL PASO— The Sun City had the lowest murder rate recorded in 46 years, making it only the third time a single digit number has been recorded in fifty years.
The El Paso Police Department released the data from the Uniform Crime Reports in Austin, Texas.
Only 5 murders were recorded in 2010, a number also recorded in 1964. The year 1965 was also a single digit year with only 9 murders being recorded.
Last year, the city had 13 murders total recorded.
The year with the most murders for the city was in 1993, with a total of 56 murders being recorded. The year 1980 follows closely behind with 54 murders.
