Man Hit By Train in Fabens Identified

FABENS - 33-year-old Arturo Avelar was walking near or on the railroad tracks early Thursday morning.

The conductor of the train, traveling westbound, said the train may have struck something, and sheriff's deputies responded.

Almost an hour later they found Avelar lying partially on the tracks. Avelar lived in Fabens, but investigators still don't know why he was near the tracks.
