EL PASO – Police say officers from the Northeast Patrol charged a Northeast El Paso man with aggravated assault against a public servant.
We're told officers responded to a fight at 9:30 Sunday night at an apartment complex in the 3300 block of Hayes.
That's where they saw Juan Portillo coming from the area where the fight was reported to be at.
Officers say they repeatedly called to Portillo to stop as he was walking away from the officers.
Police said Portillo turned towards the officers and stated that he “hated cops,” and then said “I got something for ya.”
Police said Portillo then reached into his right rear pocket.
Officers were able to secure Portillo and remove a fixed bladed knife that was in his right rear pocket.
He was booked into the El Paso County Jail on two counts of aggravated assault against a public servant.
His bonds were set at $50,000.
