It's officially the first day of Winter and the day is being marked with a total lunar eclipse.
The eclipse was visible to much of the country including El Paso and lasted about three and a half hours.
Today's eclipse is historically significant because it's the first time since 1638 that a total lunar eclipse has occurred on the Winter solstice.
Astronomers say the next time the two will happen on the same day is December 21st, 2094.
