Tuesdays rivalry game between UTEP and NMSU certainly got heated registering an intentional foul, three technical fouls, and two ejections. The two rivals continued their displeasure for one another after the game in the hallways of the Pan American Center having to be seperated by team coaches and managers. Some of the frustrations could be contributed to a four game losing streak going into the game for the Aggies and having a whole week to think about their 73-56 loss at the Don Haskins Center.
The players admit they rivalry added an element to the physical game.
"It's pretty intense," said Senior guard Gordo Castillo. "Guys were just going at each other, both teams wanted to win bad. It's a rivalry, man. Once emotions start flowing, stuff happens."
Rivalry week continues this week for the Aggies who will try to break a five-game losing streak Saturday when they host New Mexico for the Rio Grande Rivalry.
