EL PASO - Forty-seven years ago today, President John F. Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas. But few people know the role El Paso played in that fateful day.
On June 5, 1963, President Kennedy met with Vice President Lyndon B. Johnson and Texas Governor John Connally at the Hotel Cortez in downtown El Paso.
There they decided Kennedy would visit Dallas in late November.
Thousands lined the streets downtown hoping for a glimpse of JFK.
