EL PASO - Thanksgiving came early for dozens of Fort Bliss soldiers thanks to an east side church.
Scotsdale Baptist held a holiday dinner for active duty soldiers and their families today.
Soldier Benjamin Olivares says the event helps cure the holiday blues.
"We try and have these Thanksgiving events because three-quarters of the Army in my unit, their families aren't here in El Paso so it gets a little lonely on Thanksgiving. So having El Paso help us like this church, we're able to come together, so we feel like a family so we know we're a part of each other."
This event was sponsored by the City of El Paso.
