SOCORRO - Expect more drama than usual at tonight's Socorro City Council meeting.
That's because two days ago councilman Luis Varela was arrested on charges of marijuana delivery and cocaine possession.
The El Paso County Sheriff's Office says undercover deputies busted Varela and three other men Tuesday evening in Socorro for allegedly negotiating the sale and delivery of more than 40 pounds of marijuana.
During the undercover sting, deputies say they also found 27.5 grams of cocaine in Varela's truck.
Varela remained in jail Thursday morning on a $140, 000 bond.
The Socorro council meeting begins at 6 p.m.
