After spending several months in Iraq, a father makes a surprise homecoming.
For 11-year-old Zachary Alvarado, this moment was months in the making. While he was sitting in class, his dad was arriving at the airport from Iraq. Zachary had no idea he was just moments away from an unexpected reunion.
For the past five years Alvarado has been travelling to Iraq. First he was fighting in the war. Then, after retiring from the Marine Corp, he voluntarily worked for the government on reconstruction. Alvarado says his son had a hard time understanding why he'd want to go back.
Zachary says, despite tough months apart, this holiday homecoming is all he was hoping for.
