Las Cruces – Seven voter registration forms turned into the Dona Ana County Clerk's Office appear to have been tampered with.
Las Cruces Police say the forms were submitted by prospective voters who indicated “no party” affiliation, however the forms also contained a handwritten “R” indicating the voter wished to be a part of the Republican Party.
The County Clerk's office has since contacted the voters to correct the inconsistency.
Investigators say four of the registration forms were collected at a Republican Party booth set up at the Whole Enchilada Fiesta.
The other three were collected at the Republican Party headquarters in Las Cruces.
Investigators do not believe that anyone affiliated with Dona Ana County or the County Clerk’s Office had anything to do with the tampering of the voter registration cards.
