We are learning more about the events leading up the the arrest of a Dona Ana County mother who is being charged in the death of her newborn.
21 year-old Aracelia Lopez is charged with intentional child abuse resulting in the death of her 1 month-old son.
It all started Monday night with a series of 911 calls from Lopez's Vado mobile home.
According to a criminal complaint, the mother's sister told investigators she came home and "the child's stomach appeared to be bloated..." and later foam and "a yellowish watery substance began to excrete from the child's mouth and nose." before he stopped breathing.
The criminal complaint also says Lopez started laughing when her brother in-law asked her what happened to the baby.
Investigators say Lopez told them she was breastfeeding her son when he threw himself out of her arms and hit his head on a padded armrest.
Investigators say there are several reason why they charged her with child abuse before getting autopsy results.
