EL PASO - It was an international meeting that our border fence couldn't stop.
A group of presbyterians came together at the U.S./Mexico border to pray for a community that is being torn apart by a drug war.
"For the church people, for the Christian, there is no fence that may divide us, or that can divide us. We are a single people, we are people under God," Reverend Jose Luis said.
Juarez has been named the deadliest city in North America, and because families in the Borderland are often split between two countries, Americans aren't safe from the tears or the bloodshed.
This is the first time this group has prayed together, publicly, for the violence to end.
"Share our love in the Lord and pray for the city, both cities, we need a lot from our God," Jaime Duenas said.
Mexican police were on hand along with Border Patrol Agents to make sure the group stayed safe, but still the worshipers put their safety in the hands of God, and their fellow neighbors in the name of faith.
"...while there is a war going on it's very real, it's very ugly and there is collateral damage. We feel very safe because of the care of our brothers and sisters in Mexico," John Nelsen said.
"This is a tough place. I know that, but we are here because the Lord called us to be here," Luis said.
