EL PASO - New science is out on the incidence of breast cancer in the Borderland and it is not all good.
Researcher Rajkumar Lakshmankswamy presented the findings at the Texas Tech Center of Excellence at the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine.
"We are very keenly interested in what's going on in the El Paso community because there seems to be a pretty high concentration of breast cancer and we want to know what's going on. We want to create awareness in the community, what resources are available, what kind of research is being conducted at our institution, the Center of Excellence."
Symposium topics included educating Hispanic woman about genetics and breast cancer and building a breast cancer prevention program.
