EL PASO - Hair today gone tomorrow.
"I love it. It's good. I'm not dried out, but you can tell it's nice and free and flying around so I like it."
Jacqui Hair Salon hosts the 14th annual "Cut for the Cure"... an event raising hairs and funds for women with breast cancer.
"I have two friends who are survivors and so I'm always really atuned to the cause. My family doesn't have a history of it. I get checked regularly as they recommend for all women, but because of my friends, I'm just really aware of it and I think it's a really wonderful cause."
Hair stylists from different salons across El Paso gather for the fundraiser... which began after doctors diagnosed Jacqui's owner Jacqueline Babenco with breast cancer 18 years ago.
"It's a fun time. We get a lot of people in here. A lot of them have had breast cancer or have breast cancer...some just want to help because they've got a sister or someone in the family."
Babenco says don't be a boob... get your annual exam.
"It was very early detected. It was very early. so all I had to do was a lumpectomy so that's why I really recommend you have your annual mammogram. It's very important."
All proceeds from the event will benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
