The local March of Dimes is celebrating a major accomplishment. A recent fundraiser netted far more money than the organization planned. March of Dimes supporters gathered in East El Paso to recognize the efforts of everyone who made the march of dimes walk a success.
"We were set up to raise $150,000 and with the efforts of K-Mart, Sierra Providence, all the walkers, all the volunteers, we raised $279,000 this year," said March for Babies Chair Justin Lowenfield.
The mission of the March of Dimes is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality.
