Penalties and miscues was the theme for the Cowboys season opener in the Nations Capitol. None were bigger than the last, a holding call on lineman Alex Barron, which nullified the game-tying touchdown to Roy Williams as time expired. Overall, Dallas was flagged twelve times for 92 yards. Penalties overshadowing an otherwise much stronger offensive performance. The Cowboys outgained the Redskins 380 total yards to Washinton's 250 and converted seven more first downs. Dallas also dominated the time of possession by almost ten minutes. The only offensive turnover of the game belonged to Tashard Choice who had the ball stripped from him by DeAngelo Hall and returned 54 yards for the only Washinton touchdown as time expired before halftime.
Next Dallas hosts Chicago (1-0).
