Unmanned drones have been in flight since June 1st, but now they'll be monitoring almost the entire border with Mexico.
The drones carry high-tech day and night vision cameras to catch drug and human smugglers.
Cruising at speeds up to 280 miles per hour at an altitude of up to 50,000 feet, drones can fly 20 hours without refueling and weigh more than 10,000 pounds.
The drone's cameras are so precise, pilots can see people's faces as long as there's daylight.
The drone is not flying 24/7, for now it's flight time is dependent on border patrol requirements.
