LAS CRUCES – A Las Cruces woman allegedly embezzled almost $6,000 worth of merchandise from the department store where she worked.
Las Cruces Police say 24-year-old Janet Rodriguez, who worked as a cashier at the Kohl's at 2500 N. Triviz Drive, was seen on surveillance camera failing to scan merchandise and then bagging the items.
Investigators say she was caught on camera doing this at least five times.
Detectives say Rodriguez would place merchandise on hold at customer service and then have a 15-year-old friend claim the merchandise and checkout through her register.
Rodriguez would then allegedly collect the merchandise from the friend after work.
No charges have been filed against the 15-year-old involved.
