Construction crews stumbled upon a 100-year-old time capsule while renovating the old YMCA building in Central El Paso on Tuesday.
The capsule, a small copper box, was first sealed back in 1906 at the original YMCA building on Oregon Street.
50 years later, in 1957, it was reopened and moved to a new location at 701 Montana where more items were added.
There are newspapers, a bible, brochures, lists of YMCA donors, and even a dime taped to a piece of paper saying it could buy you a cup of coffee at the time.
The YMCA says it knew about the time capsule, it just didn't know where it was in the building.
Construction crews found the time capsule hidden in a historic cornerstone they were salvaging.
The cornerstone was encased in a brick wall inside the building.
The YMCA building is being renovated and turned into a city recreation center.
The time capsule has been handed over the YMCA.
The contents will be preserved and maybe even put on public display.
