"I just heard pop pop, two shots and that's when we came out to see through the window to make sure we didn't get that same thing you know," one neighbor said.
A Fabens community is shaken after hearing gunshots last night and waking up to a crime scene right outside their door.
Neighbors said they're afraid about what would happen to them if they talked to us and asked us to hide their identities.
"I am fearful of what might happen if they see who I am you know, that's one thing I don't want," the neighbor said.
Neighbors said they could hear someone knocking to get into the home right before the killer forced his way in and shot the victim, Alejandro Castro, while his family was there.
That's the one thing I can't stand, killing somebody in front of their own child," the neighbor said.
Neighbors said they didn't know much about Castro. They thought he was a truck driver.
But, this isn't the first time something like this has happened so close to home.
"We had a shooting up the road a couple of days ago," the neighbor said.
Now neighbors are saying, they will be taking precautions.
"Lock my doors for one thing, make sure they're locked. And well, should anything happen I'm well protected," the neighbor said.
