EL PASO- The Housing Authority of the City of El Paso announced a new program to weatherize and insulate public housing units that qualify.
HACEP says it has already weatherized 18 public housing units in the Williams Community on the Westside and reinsulated 98 units at the Henderson Apartments.
Weatherizing and insulating homes can save people money on their electric and water bills by improving the efficiency of both utilities.
HACEP, along with Project Bravo, is considering an additional 1,300 units that have applied for the program.
$8.7 million has been allocated to the initiative, with an individual home allowance of up to $6,500.
If you live in public housing and would like to apply, go to www.ci.el-paso.tx.us/commdev/weatherization.asp for more information.
