CHAPARRAL, NM - Dona Ana County criminal investigators opened an animal abuse case involving the brutal beating of a puppy in Chaparral, New Mexico more than three weeks ago.
NewsChannel 9 has made numerous calls to the Dona Ana County Sheriff's Office and Animal Control supervisors inquiring about the status of the investigation.
We have not heard back.
The puppy was near death when it arrived at the Desert Mission Sanctuary.
Several hours later, the puppy died.
No word on whether police have any suspects in the case.
