EL PASO – The identity of El Paso's latest murder victim is no longer a mystery.
Police now say the man who was beaten to death with a baseball bat in a South El Paso apartment last Tuesday was 55-year-old Frank Edward Jeffrey.
Earlier this week police released a picture to the local media of a tattoo on the victim's arm that said “Linda,” hoping someone in the public would recognize him from it.
But police say it was two of their own officers, from Central Regional Command, who recognized the tattoo as belonging to Jeffrey.
The day of Jeffrey's murder, police arrested Lorenzo Carreon and charged him with the murder.
Investigators say Carreon beat Jeffrey to death with the baseball bat after a fight in his apartment on the 400 block of Tays Street.
