AUSTIN, TX - Governor Rick Perry says the federal government must do a better job securing our border with Mexico.
Perry met with Texas border sheriffs in San Antonio after meeting President Obama in Austin on Monday.
"When it comes to border security there are a few things that people need to understand. The first is that it's a federal responsibility and the second is that Washington has been an abject failure as a result our unsecured border is a legitimate threat to national security or I should say is a threat to the health and the safety of our citizens."
The White House responded that President Obama has done more to secure the border than previous administrations.
