Friday, July 30: Livny Del Valle, a 32-year old former Riverside swimmer who won 3 straight district and regional championships while in high school, has advanced to the FINA World Masters Championships in Grotenbordg, Sweden. Del Valle will swim the 50M, 100M, and 200M Butterfly, and the 200M Freestyle. Del Valle won the 50M and 200M Butterfly last year at the World Master Championships in Sydney, Australia, but says this competition will be much more fierce. "There is going to be more competition this year, especially because it's in europe, and there will be a lot of european swimmers that did not make it to the meet last year, so I'm expecting it to be a lot more difficult. I would like to take a medal, top three, that would be phenomenal." Del Valle is set to compete on Monday in two events.
