Friday, July 23: Today, the Indios de Juarez announced they have negotiated with the Mexican Soccer Federation to bring the National team to Ciudad Juarez for a friendly, possibly against Uruguay. A day and time have not been announced, but the game will likely take place in October at the Estadio Olimpico Benito Juarez. The last time the national team played in Juarez, Mexico tied Nigeria, 2-2 in a friendly in front of a packed house. Though their opponent, Uruguay, has not been confirmed either, sources have told Newschannel 9 that the Federation hopes to bring in Uruguay in October. Uruguay, a 2-time FIFA World Cup Champion, advanced to the World Cup Semifinals in South Africa, losing to the Netherlands in the semifinal. Uruguay finished 4th after a 3-2 loss to Germany in the 3rd place game. Mexico advanced to the knockout round, where El Tri fell to Argentina, 3-1.
