The American Civil Liberties Union of Texas is warning El Pasoans that those traveling to Arizona should know their rights after Governor Jan Brewer signed the controversial SB-1070.
They said even though the law doesn't go into effect until the end of the month, they warn travelers of potential racial profiling and say that if you're questioned on your legal status upon entering Arizona, you should have identification on you but you have the right to remain silent.
"We are not endorsing a boycott in any way," said Dotty Griffith, public education director for the ACLU."What we are endorsing is that people know their rights when traveling in Arizona."
The union has already filed a lawsuit against Arizona's new law.
