Tuesday, June 29: Chapin Head Coach Rene Hernadez called them good, but the Coronado T-Birds can't wait to show how good they are on July 8 in College Station. Coronado advanced to their first ever Fox Sports Southwest 7-on-7 State Championships by winning the inaugural Chapin 7-on-7 Tournament last month. Coronado will advance to the 128-team Tournament along with Montwood, Chapin and Franklin. It is Coronado's first time in the event, and this will be the first time El Paso as a city will send four teams. Raziel Velgis, a Coronado Senior Safety/Defensive Back, can't wait to see the competition, and get a good feel for what he will be going up against this fall and possibly the future. "I feel good because my dream is to go play at a Division 1 school, and those are D-1 athletes, a lot are D-1 prospects, and going up against them makes you see how much more work you need to put into it. Where you need to get to, and everything you need to do to become a D-1 prospect."
